Introduction
Sparrows are small, cute birds that have always held a special place in my heart. This painting, Sparrow Love, captures the warmth of childhood memories and the quiet beauty of these little birds. Sadly, the sparrow population is dwindling, which makes this artwork feel even more meaningful.
Why I Painted Sparrow Love
When I was a child, I had a sparrow puzzle and may have sketched one or two in my drawing book. As the years passed, sparrows slowly disappeared from around us, and I forgot about them until one day the memory returned. Since then, they sometimes drift back into my thoughts, gentle reminders of childhood innocence and the simple joys of life.
Their small, cute presence inspired me to capture their charm on paper. For me, they embody the innocence of childhood and the longing to be a child again. The yellow background in this painting represents sunlight—the warmth of childhood days that I had long left behind.
Although I was still learning, the paper shows a few gentle creases and areas where the surface has thinned slightly—subtle reminders of the hands-on process of creating something by hand. These small imperfections give the piece a personal, lived-in feel rather than a sense of perfection.
